Dr. Verity Buchanan

Dr. Verity Buchanan is a chartered counseling psychologist and executive coach, living between London and New York with her husband, two children and most beloved labradoodle, Penfold.

Born in Hampshire, she graduated with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford University. She then studied Law and spent a decade as a crime, family and human rights Barrister, before converting to finance and working in private equity for four years. Meanwhile, she received a distinction in her graduate conversion in Psychology and completed her Doctorate in Psychology at City University, London, four years later. She is also trained in the Tavistock Systems Psychodynamic approach to executive coaching and the Tavistock’s Systemic and Family Therapies.

Verity describes herself as an integrative therapeutic practitioner and leadership consultant, focused mainly on the ways that relationships, the socio-historical-cultural context and the different, often-competing systems of which we are all inherently a part impact and play out in our lives. She believes that there is no one-size-fits-all solution for people’s difficulties and prefers to tailor therapy and consulting to the particular challenges, needs and contexts of the individual client, couple, team, organisation or family – relying on a wide range of tools and informed by her broad training and experience in psychology, law, finance and business, being at all times open, honest and understanding.
